A HUMAN BEING DIED THAT NIGHT

This is a story about the confrontation between the victim and perpetrator. Prof Gobodo- Madikizela visits De Kock while he serves two life sentences plus 212 years for his crimes against humanity in jail.

She wants to understand why De Kock wanted to apologise to the victims’ wives in private after he had testified in public about his role in their husband’s death. Themes such as the complexities of forgiving the other, forgiving self, vengeance and the power remorse.
