Announcement regarding the air conditioning system at Sand Du Plessis Theatre

The Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (PACOFS) acknowledges the concerns and dissatisfaction voiced by audiences who have attended performances at the Sand Du Plessis Theatre. This discontent stems from the prolonged significant upgrades to our Heat, Ventilation. And Air Conditioner (HVAC) system. It is imperative to note that PACOFS is a mere tenant and we therefore expect the landlord (Provincial Department of Public Works and Infrastructure) to maintain the theatre. Unfortunately, this has not been done.

We sincerely regret the discomfort experienced by our guests during the warmer months whilst attending events at PACOFS.

As PACOFS, we wish to take this moment and share some important news with our patrons about this upgrade taking place at our venue. The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), a technology and systems used to regulate temperature, humidity, and air quality within a building is in being installed to ensure that our patrons/guests enjoy a comfortable experience during performances and events.

PACOFS appreciates your understanding and patience, as we are working to enhance air quality and climate control in our venue. While we are doing our best to keep disruptions and delays to a minimum there are few inconveniences such as the delays at the harbour, inter-governmental relations matters with the Custodian and damages due to transporters negligence.

We therefore commit to finishing the project at the end of May 2025 and will do everything possible to make experience of our events a pleasant one.

Thank you for the continued support of Sand Du Plessis Theater here at PACOFS. We cannot wait to welcome you to our upgraded venue to share many more fantastic performances and events with you in the future.
